delicioso cafe [12 Oct 2007|11:17am]

WEll they are definately on tour again, they have a list of most of their dates on their website. On their myspace: http://www.myspace.com/cafetacvba they also have clips off of their new album, which sounds amazing of course. I will be going to see them in Houston in December, and I"m excited! Just thought I'd share :)

Also, if you think you could help do some good on this community, and would like to help be a maintener, let me know! Send me a message, and we'll chat :) We need to spread the word and make this place more active!

disappointment and grief.
MTV LA VMA 05 cancelled, meaning all of the work and the effort in trying to get all of those talented artists under one venue, especially, Café Tacvba- all gone to waste.
I think Café Tacvba would have won for Best Artist of the year and beat up that sell out known as Shakira.

What do you think?

JULY 16: Lila Downs @ The Vanguard Theatre, Los Angeles [01 Jul 2005|02:09pm]

Saturday, July 16; 6:30 PM
Lila Downs
Little Willie G & Los Tamaleros
@ The Vanguard Theatre (6021 Hollywood Blvd, Hollywood, 90028)

“Lila Downs grew up in the Sierra Madre mountains of southern Mexico, in the state of Oaxaca, and also in Minnesota in the U.S.A. Combining formal vocal training with an extreme emotional intensity, her remarkable voice is as varied in range as the musicians with whom she performs - a Brazilian guitarist, a Cuban bassist, a Chilean drummer, a Mexican harpist, and a pianist/saxophonist/musical director from New Jersey. Each brings his particular musical slant to create a crisp, jazzy Latin sound leaning in no single direction but inclusive of all of them. She performs her own compositions and also taps into the vast reservior of native mesoamerican music, by singing songs in the the Indian languages of Mexico such as Mixtec, Zapotec, Maya and Nahuatl.”

FMI: Lila Downs

[ mood | concert high ]

I went to go see Cafeta at the Aragon theater. First was Eli (which I only know one song: Ojos Claros Labios Rosa) and then Kinky (which is a pretty good band)

Cafeta had a good set. This is my third time going to see them at the Aragon. This year I even actually got to stay and see the whole concert. The last two years my brother and I had to leave early in order to catch the "EL" so that we could catch the last South Shore back home.

Some of the songs they played that I remember:

No Controles
Chilanga Banda
Dejate Caer
Como Te Extrano
